Pregnancy: 15 weeks + early ultrasound!

A few people have asked me why I don't do my pregnancy pics and updates via Facebook. Yes, it may be a little easier, but all my pregnancy news will be on my blog. Here's why. There are so many women out there who would kill to be me right now. I know because I was one of them--loathing pregnancy announcements, belly pictures, and ultrasound pictures because they weren't mine.  And I tried for years to have them.

While our story is a little different and we aren't your typical fertile-myrtles, I can still see how my pregnancy could be painful for others. The last thing I want to do is make someone else feel like I did: scrolling my Facebook and having a little pitty party with each depressing photo.

So, if someone wants to know about my pregnancy, awesome! That will be what these blog posts are for--to celebrate and relish in my growing belly. But I won't hog the Facebook feed.

Phew! Now that that's off my chest, let's talk babies! I am 15 weeks as of last Friday! I still wear my normal clothes and haven't really started to show yet. I am up two pounds since my last appointment. I feel like if I have a belly, it comes and goes and depends on what I eat. Luckily, scrubs are very forgiving and I'll probably get lots of looks like "is she pregnant or just fat" for quite awhile.
Other pregnancy related news and symptoms: Nausea has gotten better, although I still feel sick in the evening (making night shifts a nightmare). My abdomen and chest itch like crazy. Good grief, I wish scratching helped, but no. I don't know if I have been feeling baby movement, gas, or indigestion, but something is definitely going on in there.

Because I'm growing, so is our little one! Our lovely Aunt Heidi is a bomb sonagrapher and did an early scan of little peanut for us. It was astounding to see how BIG and developed that little body has become in a few short weeks. At only about 3.5 inches, it's amazing how perfect everything looks. I felt complete bliss watching the graceful turns and stretches of our sweet little one. Oh, and don't get me started on the feet and hands! Gah! So perfect and mesmerizing. Seeing the baby suck hands or grab toes melted my heart.

It was fun watching Ben during the ultrasound--he was glued to the screen in wonder. He kept saying things like "it looks sooo real," "that's incredible," and "holy cow, Whit, look at that!"

Anyway, I'm pretty sure I have the cutest baby inside me, but I'm a little biased. Probably the most exciting thing we found out was if we'll be having a wrestler or a soccer player (Ben is convinced soccer is a women's sport. Another conversation for another day).

It was pretty obvious and it wasn't shy in showing us the goods. It's a....BOY! And we are ecstatic, to say the least. We would have been happy either way, but we both can't wait to meet this little man who has stolen our hearts already. He is beautiful and sweet and acrobatic. We love him already.

I'm going to be really outnumbered, but the boys are going to be great big brothers. :)

There it is!

Oh, ya know...just doing a head stand.

Ah, the toes.

Cute little legs.

P.S. I am glad to hear that your stomach itches. I am 17 weeks along, and I thought that was just a freak pregnancy symptom I had. Best wishes.
