Spring Break...woohoo.

The first week in April, we had the time of our lives visiting New York and Washington DC. I have dreamed of the seeing the Big Apple since I sat on my Grandma's plaid couch watching "An Affair to Remember." We saw some amazing art, ate waaay too much Pinkberry, and enjoyed the energy and life in these amazing cities.

Here's the top ten of the trip:
1. Central Park--This oasis housed in the middle of the chaotic city was one of our favorite places to relax and of course, people watch. It was a nice way for us to "get out" of the city without actually leaving.
2. Pinkberry--As mentioned above, our visits alone could support the shop on 58th. It was to DIE for--seriously. Death by that stuff and the chocolate sauce would be totally fine by me.
3. Empire State--Even though we felt vaguely like cattle being herded through the building, we wouldn't trade the views of the city for anything.
4. Yankee vs Boston--That's right, for you die-hard Yankee fans, you know the season opener was the first week in April. And we were there. In the nose-bleeds, but still. Ben comes from a long line of Yankee yahoos, so he was in heaven. We had overpriced Nathan's hot dogs and fries and ate our way to heart disease.
5. The Musical, "Once"--We went to the theatre on 45th and were witness to some stellar talented people. Everyone played their own instrument and the music was phenomenal. "Falling Slowly" was one of our favorite songs from the show.
6. Palmyra: There are no words. Well, maybe eight: sacred, peaceful, home of fantastically-fluffy french toast
7. Washington DC LDS temple--From our hotel in Dupont Circle, we took a 34 minute metro ride, 23 minute bus ride, and walked 1.4 miles to get to the temple. Uphill, while having to pee really bad. Why is walking always sooo much harder when you've got to go? Anyway, as we trudged up the hill, we caught view of six pearly white spires and knew we had made it. The spirit there was incredible and we felt uplifted being there.
8. Memorials--Seeing how much we honor and commemorate our leaders and military was enlightening. The notes on the walls and memorials to lost loved ones reminded us how blessed we are to live where so many people sacrifice to preserve our freedom.
9. Cherry Blossoms--Even though they weren't in full bloom, we caught a glimpse of the magical pink and white
10. Shake Shack--Best shakes in Dupont Circle. By far. And I know shakes. And their burgers aren't bad either. Or the fries. Okay, it's all good!

Peruse some pics of the trip!
