Lately

Whew. It's been awhile. Life has been a little crazy (I keep thinking it will slow down. I'm still waiting), so here's a uber quick update on what's been going on 'round here.

Etta: My adorable, tenacious, chubby cheeked niece underwent a pretty intense bowel surgery a few weeks ago. She has Hirschsprung's Disease and got to have her colostomy taken out so she can pooh out her booty-licious behind. She is my hero. And I don't have many. She took all that comes with surgery like a champ, requiring only occasional sniffs of narcotic to control pain. As a Peds Pacu/Recovery Nurse, I was impressed and couldn't believe how well she handled the whole process including a pretty horrendous bowel clean out. Let's just say that was, uh, explosive. Guess her stellar recovery is a testament to her amazing parents.

House: We have been in our house for almost a year and we are due for a major yard makeover. Between broken sprinklers, "gardens" with 5 foot weeds, and iffy landscaping, we have our work cut out for us. We were a lot more excited before we started this mess of projects. We are hauling away rocks, building flower beds, and keeping our fingers crossed that the plants we carefully put in the ground will some how survive us. That's right. Not a green thumb among us.

Ben: This guy just finished his second year as a brave junior high art teacher. Seriously. He is amazing at what he does and even more awesome at helping and inspiring the kids he works with. I love that he is so excited about his students' work and really does care about every kid. Needless to say, with summer upon us, his honey-do list is quite lengthy. Perks of having summers off, I guess.

Rachel: My little sister down to about 10 months to go on her mission in Washington, D.C. and let's just say, I'm a little anxious for my buddy to get home. Her letters crack me up and I pretty much stalk her mission blog to catch glimpses of her. We are definitely blessed to have her serving, but still can't help but miss her.  Like a diabetic misses carbs. I catch myself pressing her speed dial because I know she is a person who will always listen. Love that girl.

The Danes: Our boys are loving the warm weather and can't get enough of our sprinklers. If the water is on, their faces are in it. Their floppy cheeks hold a surprising amount of water that seems to always find its' way onto my arms or pant legs. And then I have to change. We also had some family pictures done in honor of Hank's first birthday. That's right...our baby is growing up. Literally; he is getting so tall! We had a blast with April and she was soo good with the dogs. Here's a few of our favorite pictures...

Okay, there's something. I'm going to do better at this whole "blogging" thing. Promise :)
