Lately: preggers, mustaches, and life
Hola! Once again, I feel like life has run away with us. Dang it. It has been a crazy few weeks and here's what we've been up to in a nutshell.
Preggers: I have been feeling pretty dang good, pregnancy wise. I have definitely had my bouts with gut wrenching nausea and projectile vomit, but I'll take it. And Unisom and Zofran to help. Word to the wise--stay away from chicken (all varieties, and girl, don't you dare try to handle the stuff raw) also, don't underestimate the power of a peach Fresca on queasy days. It's nectar from the heaven as far as nausea goes.
I my first pre-natal appointment with my doctor this week. I can't tell you how incredible it feels to have had a good appointment: a doctor who is understanding, listens, and is genuinely excited for us. Someone who treats me like a person--not just another pregnant girl. Not to mention, I got to hear the lovely beat of our little peanut's heart. The visit made me feel renewed and excited of our progress.
Mustaches: We braved the first snow of the season and got our 'stache on for the Mustache Dache-- a little 5K to support testicular and prostate cancers. Go, us! It was freezing for the first mile, but we warmed up after that. Ben sped ahead and kept up with the crazy-runner-mommies while Spence and I "enjoyed the scenery and smelled the roses." We may have had a leisurely jog, but I'm just glad we ran and finished! It was such a blast....definitely a fun tradition to carry on.
The boys: Gosh, I just love our sweet dogs. I think they understand the changes happening in our family and my belly. If I'm lying down, at least one of them has their head lovingly placed on my tummy. They just had their annual dental cleanings done and passed with flying colors. Brushing their teeth is a struggle that takes Ben straddling them and me brushing as best and quickly as I can with their beef toothpaste. They actually do really well and enjoy it, but it gives us a good work out.
Ben: He is still juggling a master's, teaching, community classes, and now coaching wrestling. The years of wrestling and coaching have taken their toll and we are gearing up for his shoulder surgery in a few weeks. We seem to pay for anesthesia every year or so--he'll be bionic soon. Ben also had his birthday last weekend. He insisted on no presents, but seemed pretty stoked about the ice cream maker I bought for him. Not that we need to eat more ice cream, but this way we could make frozen yogurt or something healthier. Ha, ha. We'll see.
